          Accreditation

Saint Anne School holds its second consecutive six-year accreditation (the maximum available) from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA). Saint Anne School’s Principal and all lead grade level teachers hold Teaching Credentials, Masters Degrees or both.

Core Curriculum 

Saint Anne School provides a comprehensive K-8 curriculum as stipulated by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and according to California State Standards in the following subjects: Mathematics, English, Reading, Spelling, Social Studies, Science, Art, Music, Religion and Physical Education. The curriculum also includes significant curriculum enhancements discussed below.

Assessment 

Students are assessed through the annual Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) test, which is conducted over a two-week period in the early autumn.   

 

Curriculum Enhancement

Mathematics:

ST Math, computer based Spatial Temporal Mathematics, K-5;

Mountain Math: cyclical review of core concepts;

Algebra: for 8th grade students who qualify.

Language Arts:

Waterford Institute’s Early Reading Program, phonics-based computer software for K-2;

Mountain High Language,cyclical review of core concepts;  

Accelerated Reader: computer-based program providing comprehension assessment of leveled readers, all grades.  

Music: Our school-wide music instruction for all grade levels: K-2, Orff-Schulwerk Mallet and Percussion; 3-5, violin, cello or choral instruction for grades 3-6; 7,8: guitar option. Instruments provided for all pupils at no charge. Violin and cello students commit to after school orchestra assembly and after school music mentoring with instrument-proficient Crossroads high school students.

Technology and Computer Laboratory: School-wide T-1 internet connectivity with internet filtering; SMART Board technology, all classrooms, K-8; 4 internet-connected desktop computers in each classroom;  32-Computer Learning Lab, with daily K-2 visits for language arts/phonics and mathematics enrichment, and other grades visiting a minimum of twice per week.

Science:

PS Science, a hands-on science program for grades 1–5 (Click here to view a video about PS Science);

UCLA Environmental Science Project: 7th and 8th grade students collaborate with UCLA graduate engineering students to test local beaches and oceans for bacteria, analyze and present findings to UCLA students and faculty, and SM City Council.

           Art History: Enrichment in art history and fine arts instruction tied to California State standards is provided in Grades 3-5 through art history

           educators in conjuction with Arts Matters, a non-profit arts education organization.

           World Geography: Enrichment in topics in World Geography is provided in Grades 6-8 through our affiliation with Mount St.

           Mary's College.

Title I Remedial Reading Program: is provided for students who qualify from Kindergarten to grade 5.
